Grief is in two parts. The first is loss. The second is the remaking of life.
Does it feel like the people around you are uncomfortable and don't know how to react? Have you lost a sense of meaning after the loss? Are you struggling to find the motivation to carry out daily tasks? Are you avoiding things that remind you of the loss? Are you feeling pressure to "move on"?
If you are feeling any of these things, you are not alone...
Grief is an isolating experience. Every person goes through it differently, and every loss brings about a different grief reaction.
I specialize in helping people process and cope with loss, grief, bereavement and trauma. I collaborate with clients to create a safe space to process the loss at a pace that feel comfortable for them. I use an integrative method that includes interventions from evidence-based approaches.
I understand that it is not easy to reach out for help. It can feel intimidating and vulnerable to speak to a person you have never met before. I recognize the strength that it takes, and would consider it an honor to hear from you. It would be a privilege to walk alongside you as we work together to begin on your journey to growth and healing.
Healing takes time, and asking for help is a courageous step.
I offer individual sessions to adults 18+ located in the province of Ontario. During these uncertain times, all sessions are taking place virtually (video or phone). A few of the issues I can assist with are:
The session fee is $165 per 50 minute session, which includes all taxes and applicable fees. Payments can be made by e-transfer at the end of the session.
Sessions must be cancelled with at least 24 hours prior notice. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours prior notice will be charged the full session fee.
I'm Jessica, and it's nice to "meet" you! Ever since I can remember, I have had a deeply rooted passion for helping others which is what inspired me to pursue a career in psychotherapy. I adapt my clinical approach to the unique style of each client in order to ensure that it best meets your needs. I use interventions from evidence-based approaches including Person-Centered therapy, emotionally-focused therapy, experiential therapy, and mindfulness based techniques.
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from McGill and a Bachelor of Arts in Therapeutic Recreation from Concordia. I then pursued my Master of Education in Counselling Psychology at Ottawa University. I am currently registered and in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).
