Therapy can seem intimidating, and you may have a lot of questions that need answers. Below are a few general answers, but if there is anything else you would like to know you can ask me anything here

If you have found your way to this page, or are asking yourself this question, it is likely that something is on your mind. If it is causing you distress, discomfort, or impacting you in some way, therapy can be a helpful way to process what's going on and help you move through it. No issue is too small for therapy. Clients come see me for reasons that range from daily life stressors to trauma.

This is highly dependent on the client and varies from person to person. In the initial session, we will talk about the reasons that brought you to therapy and discuss your goals. You never sign a contract and are able to end therapy at any time. We will also discuss termination throughout the process as we work towards your goals.

I accept payment by credit card or e-transfer. Payment is always due after the session takes place. If you are paying by credit card, I can safely store your payment information in a secure online platform to easily process the payment after the session.

I require 24 hours prior notice if you cannot attend a session. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, you will be charged the full session fee.

Yes! Everything that we talk about remains confidential. Before the first session, you will read through the confidentiality agreement and consent form that will provide you with all of the information you need to know about the therapy process and the services offered. It will also outline the limits to confidentiality which are a set of circumstances where confidentiality may be breached. We will go over these in detail together and I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have during our first session together.

During Covid-19, I am offering exclusively virtual sessions. The sessions take place on a secure video platform that is Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) compliant named OWL. I will send you all of the information on how to login and access your session prior to the appointment time. You do not have to download anything. You simply need access to a computer with a camera. Phone sessions are also available if that is your preference. Sessions are 50 minutes in length.

While psychotherapy is not covered by OHIP, it is covered by several extended health benefits. You will have to contact your benefits service provider to ask if services provided by a Registered Psychotherapist are covered by your plan. I am currently supervised by a Registered Psychotherapist (Sara Notenboom, RP).

I currently offer individual sessions at $145 + HST per 50 minute session. I have a limited number of sliding scale spots available for clients who cannot afford to pay the full fee which can be discussed on a case by case basis.

No, as a Registered Psychotherapist, I am not licensed or trained to make diagnoses. If you are interested in this type of assessment, I recommend you speak to a Physician, Psychologist, or Psychiatrist.
